Thumbs down 225 6 cyl with Carter BBS carb

I need info on the Main jet and step-up wire's and where I can talk to someone that has extensive experience when it comes to sizing.

I have a 1962 Dodge Lancer (same chassis as Dart) with standard CAL. Carb and would like to find different Main jet and Metering wire to lean the burn...

The carb is a Carter BBS 3239S

Thank You and Hi to all, I'm the newbie on the block

Welcome to the forumZ. Since carburators are mechanical in operation and can not be plug in a computer for troubleshooting you are going to have a problem. Contact Carter carbirators for the specs you need. Then try to find a garage that remebers how to work on them. I think i would just buy a new holley two barrel. Good luck.

Holly is the way to go. I had a 1973 with a carter carb it was nothing but trouble I switched it to a holly single barrel which was standard for that time. It took me 20 mins to install it, and two days to get it set up right. Here is why;Make sure you replace the felt gasket at the base of the carb , leave it dry do not use gasket compound on it, tighten the two mounting bolts snug do not over tighten. Also make sure you replace the choke pull off valve, the diaphragms inside are rubber and deteriorate over time. You only need one pin hole in the diaphragm for the choke to malfunction. If you get a good rebuild you should be good to go. Also make sure the engine timing is set to specs. The 225 slant has a timing chain and requires reset of timing from time to time. The chains rarely if ever break or get sloppy. Those engines were like gold they wear for ever. Let me know how you make out, Good luck
