I just finished Blacking out the tail lamps, I'm waiting for my plasti dip to come in the mail and then I will be dippin my hood, roof and emblems. FYI Plasti dip is a rubberized coat that goes over the paint and after its dry it peels off, kinda like the Elmers glue does when u get it on your hands. This will provide a protective coat against weather and lite impacts like shopping carts in the parking lot at walmart! A-HOLE whoever hit my dart last week and chipped the paint on my door! I have seen people on youtube running it thru a car wash and it holds up real good. Input???

Awesome man, that came out great!

I'm thinking about doing a wrap on my hood and roof. I'd love to see how your plasti dip job comes out...if I like it I'll just do that...much cheaper!
Dip would be a lot cheaper and peels off so if u don't like it u can always do a wrap instead. I thought of a wrap too but a carbon fiber one. When i do the dip ill shoot a video of the before and after. And its going to be matte black so i think ill do the black accents too so it all matches... hmmm thinking harder now...
^^Awesome man...the possibilities are endless with PD! lol
Should be here in 3-5 days. when it arrives im going to do some heat tests to see how much it can hold before melting. i wanna do under the hood as well but don't want a fire... I also ordered some stickers to make me go faster!
looks good, did you just use the spray tint? or was it something else
Yeah its spray tint. VHT nite shades. 12.99 a can.Only used half. Did 2 coats.
how did you avoid painting the dodge lettering on the back
Taped off the lettering carefully and skillfully... lol it took about 2 hours for full prep. and 10 minutes for spray time. Easiest way is to use a surgical blade to get as close to a perfectly cover letter without scratching the paint or emblem. I tape each letter and go back and cut it out around the letters and use the razor point to kinda tuck the overlay of tape inbetween the emblem and panel to get it like that. Its not that bad if you've done badge black outs before.

This is the blade I ended up using. I have the surgical/hobby knife too but this worked just as well. PlastiDip will be here tomorrow or Tuesday, will be posting pics when its finished, wish me luck guys, I've got some crazy IDEAS!!!

Can't wait to see your results! Good luck!
I just watched some vids on plasti dip and im really diggin it. Thinking what it would look like to dip my whole car! Love the fact that if I dont like it, it just peels away! ! Also wanting to add off center racing strips to my black dart and black colored trimmed rims. My interior accents are red of course but im thinkin of blue accents on the exterior? Thoughts? Should I just go with the flow of the car and go red??
I saw an offset racing stripe kit on ebay and you could get any color u want even matte black... i was thinking of doing the same in dip tho but changed my mind. I love the offset stripes. The one i was going to do was one 4 inch stripe and one 2 inch stripe that was 1 inch apart and went from nose to tail on the driver side. I say go for it man!!!
Yes thats the one I really liked. Saw it done on a blue dart with black off set stripes, looked sharp! But with my black dart I like blue but should I go with red to match rest of the car. Matte black... that would look sick but thinking I want a color to make it pop. Just stumped on what color to do... mmm?? Opinions??

matte black would look great on your black car. but if you want it to pop a gloss would be best if you can get it. id say go for red. blue wont pop much if at all. if u plastidipped your tail lights the blue wouldnt seem overpowered by all the red back there tho.
It is not hard to pop the chrome letters out and reapply with emblem glue. Much quicker than 2 hours. Just be careful not to break them. I sprayed the letters with 3M adhesive remover and let it sit a minute or two. then pried out the letters. painted them and glued them back in. Took about an hour including drying time. Good Luck.
Looks good, but I kind of like the factory LED racetrack lights. Not sure if i'm gonn a black them out.
So with the spray tint over the taillights, does that completely cover the LED track lights? Or does that still show through? Just wondering, because I LOVE the track lights but the blackout looks good too.
Be careful tryin to plasti dip stripes... its a pain and normally will pull up there is a art to it and alot of trail and error... Believe me it took forever to learn... not as easy as you think.
