Hi,

My 2015 Dart started having a problem with the heating system. Yesterday after warming up, I noticed the water temp gauge go high, then down and up. Also, the heater was only putting out slightly warm air. I checked and added coolant. This helped a bit with the heater - hotter air. But the temp gauge still rose to high (just more slowly). Note, I do not see a leak and the hoses feel and look fine.

In order, what would you check next?
I am used to thermostats going all at once and sticking open or shut. ?
If it is the thermostat, it looks somewhat tough to get at. Has anyone changed their own, and would you recommend taking it in to a shop?
Any idea of a typical ballpark cost for having a shop change it?

Thank you!

I changed one on 2013 dart 2.0. Not fun but definitely can be done by most. Big hands make it harder lol.. Make sure you bleed the air from the system. I found a bleeder on top of the radiator passenger side. I found a video on YouTube kinda helpful.
