The wife's new Dart is great, but I can't seem to locate a dipstick for the transmission.
Do I really have to rely on an idiot at the dealer for the transmission fluid level?
Is there no way to check the fluid for color?

As I recall from doing the oil change, there is no access from underneath.

Any help would be appreciated.

what a joke. I called the dealer that I bought the car from and asked to speak to someone in the service department that knew about Dart cars specifically...sad to say the 'technician' i was speaking to needed a book to follow the conversation and said the transmission only needed to be looked at if it was shifting abnormally, at which time they would hook a scan device to it.

disappointing....no way to check the fluid for level, color, or particulates.

I brought this up at my dealership and on another forum. I have the DDCT transmission and there is a transmission reservoir just under the cold side pressure pipe from the inter-cooler. I can specifically see two marks on the side of it. The bottom mark says MIN next to it. When I have the engine running, the fluid level is a good 1/4" if not more below that line. Let the engine cool down and sit for a couple of hours and the level is at the MIN level. All anyone can say is to use a scan tool to check the servicing, not how and to what level. Then this one guy at the dealership says to me that the transmission reservoir is like a clutch or brake reservoir, as long as you can see fluid in it, it is good to go. But, since you have the 2.0 engine, you probably don't have the DDCT. But, if there is no dipstick, there may be a reservoir for that transmission also.

Its likely checked through a plug like on a manual since its not hydrualic. The resevoir is likely for the slave cylinder/clutch master cylinder..just guesint since I havent looked under it yet.
