Anyone having any oil use or loss with their 2013 Dart 1.4L Turbo?

My son and I share the car. He is 17 so he is a little hard on it then I am :)
After coming home from work he borrow the car for a date. He tells me he missed a gear, he might of hit second trying to go to fourth. Again he 17 so if he remembers where he lives I'm happy. Anyway the engine went to redline and he could not get it to slow down so he shut off the key. After which the car would not start again.

The dealer reports the codes show a over speed event then a low oil pressure.

The service coordinator then told me it won’t start because there was no oil in the engine. I asked why there was no oil in my new car and the service coordinator told me it was because I didn’t maintain my car and it was not going to be covered under warranty. You could tell the dealers mind was made up and nothing I sent in or said was going to change the outcome of the non-warranty decision.

I then sent in my oil change receipts (5000, 12000, 19500), current mileage is 23500. After which they told me it will not be warranty however they want me to pay off 10 hours of break down time so they can tell me what is wrong with the car.

After 25 days of talking with everyone (Dealer, Managers, Chrysler, TV, Lawyers, etc...) I had it towed home.

I have the car back home now and I will break it down this weekend. My question is has anyone else had oil loss? I know of one other Dart around me and he tells me he is burning or loosing a quart with every 1000's miles of highway driving.

Ouch, that sucks man! I think I recall my service guy telling me to regularly check the oil as he believed the cars did use oil. I have the 2.0 so I don't know if it was directed at the 2.0 or all the Dart engines in general.

I hope you get it worked out.

I have a 2014 dart sxt with 2.4l tiger shark , first 3500 miles great.
Since then engine has gone thru almost 8 QTS of oil , miles now
just over 9 k. No visible signs of external leak , no smoke out the back.
Love the car but not happy with oil problem. Have seen a lot online about this issue
So what is causing it? A new engine should not use oil like this.
I'm a marine technician and work on engines that work much harder than car
engines and outside of break in don't loose a drop of oil.
And when this engine is low it does some funny things from one minute running
to the next nothing and usually at highway speed ( no steering ) , also hesitates
from 1st to 2 and and this is an automatic 6 speed dual clutch .
Oil alarm may or may not sound .
Any ideas? And burning a quart of oil per thousand miles not an acceptable answer.
One thought I had is could the 0 w 20 oil be to thin for this engine ? I mean its not a race car . I owned a vw with a 1.8 l turbo ( sold it for the dart ) and that used 5 w 20 and at 180 k it only used 2 quarts and one was because it had a leak.

FWIW- Checked the oil today and it was at the bottom of the XXX mark (quart low-?) Added some syn oil of proper type and brought it up to half on the XXX mark. OK we had the oil changed about three weeks ago and currently have 16k on the odometer. I seem to recall having to add about 1/2 quart between oil changes last time. No blue smoke, no leaks, no nothing. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, 2.4 L Tiger Shark auto. SXT Rallye package/auto.

Oil consumption is about the only problem I haven't had with my 2013 Dart SE. What really perplexes me is that Dodge/ FCA/ Chrysler seems to be convinced and is trying to convince Dart owners that all of these issues are normal because the Dart was a "platform car" in 2013. This car is nothing unique in design, in styling, or engineering. The Dart has absolutely the lowest trade in/resale value of any vehicle since the YUGO

I bought a 2015 dart with 31 miles on it I have 9000 now and I have "consumed" over 12qrts of oil. It's currently at the dealer and they are telling me it's the pcv valve which I think is complete bs it's a commuter for me and a base model so it's not driven hard. I think these motors are just garbage

yeah guys I put on my decat down pipe and I was getting so much smoke out my exhaust all oil. I got the 1.4t and I kept checking the oil. I consumed a bit over the trip to paris from Germany. but it was no quart of oil per 1k. the car is now at 23,000k. but I swapped over to the mobile one 5w-40 like it calls for. when ur looking for this guys it says its for turbo diesels, and has a picture of a ford raptor on it...??? idk why its gas lol. the thing this oil has in it is zinc it protect ur engine and helps seal ur turbo oil seals. so you wont be sucking in oil threw ur intake as much just what is needed to protect ur engine. and by the time ur oil change comes u will lose about 1/2 a quart.

work for dodge as a tech pep boys and now a jet mechanic trust me haven't had any issues

So an update about the oil consumption on my car the dealer replaced the pcv valve as instructed by chrysler the first 500 miles were fine the 2nd check at 1000 miles it had burned a qrt was topped off and the 3rd check at 1500 miles it had consumed another 1.5 qrts I have to go back another 2 times before they do anything further. What a joke

The problem with the oil consumption is actually far different than what any one on here has been told or posted in just took mine to the dealer and found out dodge knows about the problem it is actually a manufacturer problem with the engine while being assembled as the pistons are being inserted the rings are having pieces come off and as your engine runs it scores the cylinder walls causing oil to blow by so not only is our cars losing oil but we are also putting out more pollutants from the oil burning. The fix for mine they said they are going to replace the engine but I need to check the oil level constantly this sound to me like putting a band aid on a gun shot wound how am I supposed to feel safe with my 16 year old daughter driving a car that shuts off when the oil is low if this happens on a highway she could get seriously hurt or worse and all they are going to do is replace the engine as it doesn't fall into a lemon law until it haves 3 times so this is the first time at 9100 miles let's see how long this engine lasts

My 2014 Dart GT is going thru oil too. I complained to the dealer, who is the only one to ever service my car and they told me a quart every thousand is considered as normal, and have a nice day! Then they told me my oil pan gasket shows signs of leakage and they want to replace it under warranty. Problem with that is I park in a pristine garage have no oil drops on my floor. So I told them no. But I agree that these cars have a problem with oil consumption.

I can't believe it......I had the same exact issue that you did. But mine is an automatic @ 48,000 miles. I replaced the engine, which I'm lucky that I found a 14 with 1,832 miles on it for 1100 bucks with a 2 year warranty. The dealership totally f'd me over. I gave them receipts as well, they still wouldn't warranty it. I went through absolute hell. They told me I had no oil in mine too, before they picked it up it had plenty of oil in it. My 3rd cylinder misfired, the electrode broke off the bottom of the spark plug and blew out the valve in the cylinder. I pursued lawyers and all that jazz but got nowhere.

I spoke to one of my friends that works at a Dodge dealership and he told me that the 1.4 engine consumes 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles. Which is asinine, the engineers that came up with this engine should probably be fired lmao. Who the hell makes a motor, knowing it goes through oil like that and not make sure that the customer is aware of it. Just never made sense to me. I've had turbo issues ever since the motor swap. I've exhausted all my options.
