as long as there is an R/T model, that is what i will get

it has the 2.4L I4 engine that puts out 184hp, not sure what the MPG will be, but the non-turbo 2.0L is supposed to get 40 on the highway

If they want to sell the Dart in export markets , they will need to fit a Diesel engine , like they did with the Caliber , Avenger & Jeep Patriot. However even this is no gurantee of sales success abroad.Dodge is dead in UK & available Chryslers are just rebaged Lancia / Fiats !!

the Alfa Romeo Giulietta has three diesel engines available so not sure Dodge even needs to do one, they can just take one of those if needed

69swinger, I agree id love to see an srt8. A deisel would be interesting for the car but do you really think they would sell many of them to make it worth their while. or even worth their while to offer it in america? and I really hope they make an srt8 most people you talk to about the car said that if it does come out which noone is "sure" than it wont be on time release with the rest of the darts.

Tip Tronic, Why is it you dont think their will be an RT they make an RT in just about every car they offer an SRT dont they?

Also Does anybody know what car the 2.4 Tigershark engine was in? I was told it is in other cars prior but nobody can tell me which exactly. and does anybody no any thing about the Multiair 2?? Is that like a twin turbo or what? What makes it different from the original Multiair????

Yes that is off the website, but do you really think that dodge will go without making an SRT version of their newest car. especially if the Dart is going to target the sales of the other compact cars such as the Ford Focus?? if Ford is going to offer the Focus ST than Dodge would be stupid to try and nab those sales too by passing up the SRT. I'm sure Dodge has realized and is taking advancments to take the sales of those cars too.

I'm not sure, I personally am hoping that if they do offer it in AWD i can still get it in 2WD because I like the performance driving style with the Drifting and Power Sliding. and i can do an AWD drift but personally i find more fun in the 2WD. but we should see how it goes

this is a FWD car so not sure about any drifting in it, sliding maybe :)

also i doubt there will be any bigger of an engine squeezing in there, and besides SRT is a brand now so they determine what cars will be an SRT not Dodge

lets get to know this new car before we start bashing Dodge about what they should or should have done with it. its a front wheel drive 4 cylinder engine compact car. Dodge needed one, now they have it. i really dont understand why everyone thinks all Dodge cars HAVE to be huge muscle cars

this thing already has more HP (even with the smallest engine), options, and style than the others out there (Focus, Cruze) so its a win as it stands

so with all that, lets get this thread back on topic of discussing what engine you would get of the ones that are available for the new Dodge Dart :)

Speaking of the SRT i found out my brother's Friend's Dad is high up in the SRT division... And He said "unofficially" that SRT is working on a SRT4 Dart, Unfortunately no word yet on when it will be released. However as of right now the RT is well put together, word on the street developers are already working on computers and ways to reprogram the cars preformance... It is supposed to be pretty quick already, just goes to show us car guys always want to be one step of the public ;)

^^^and more reason to believe that the Avenger got the short end of the stick on that deal and will probably be discontinued sooner rather than later...i hope not, but with all the Mopar accessories and media coverage going into the Dart it doesn't look good for the Avenger

I'm pretty sure the Dart is for North America only

I am thinking that if the Giulietta is for sale in a market, the Dart won't be.

There is supposed to be a Fiat badged version for China/other countries

Theres no chance that there will ever be an SRT8 Dart.

The 2.4 Tigershark is a revised version of the current 2.4. Its available in the Caliber/Patriot/Compass/Avenger/200/Journey

Ralph has gone on record to say that they would be "idiots" to not do something with it.

Who knows with them. If they do it probably won't be for a couple of years and maybe put the Pentastar in it.
I doubt a pentastar will fit

Keep us posted. i heard that finding a trans for it was going to be a challenge.

But I've also heard conflicting things about the SRT mules that are running around.

not all mopars have to be muscle cars but if they call it a dart it has to be !!! why not make it the new neon it has no history as a classic hot rod .
The Dart is the new compact Dodge, like it was in the past. There were few Hemi Darts made.

I've been trying to stay updated on the SRT information and than some. If i find anything out you guys will also know.

As far as the Avenger, I hope it stay around. Dodge has done alot of good things with the car. I'm sure it'll stick around (and i know i keep using ford. my family is a ford family for most part ) but ford has the fiesta fusion tauras and focus all selling moderately well. and they had alot of hype on the different fiestas and fusions. the thing i believe will help the avenger is the bigger car. so never know itll be out their still
