Won't start in the cold...

Hey everyone, my girlfriend just purchased a new Dart Limited and since the weather has gotten colder it will not start in the mornings... It started out that it wouldn't start with the remote, but now it won't start right away with the key either... It takes about 15-20 attempts before it will finally start! It can't be good for the starter!!! It hasn't really been all that cold, but I guess we'll have to try plugging in the block heater and see what happens from there... Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this yet... Pretty annoying that a brand new car won't start in -10 degree C weather! Not good for people that live in Northwestern Ontario!

It doesn't seem like too many people use this forum yet... I plugged the car in last night and it started fine this morning.
Yes, we are fairly new here and the member base is still growing. Your particular issue is the first I've seen posted here.
That seems odd for sure. I cant give any advice though; -10C and my Body wouldn't start! ;)
You might want to do an oil change to a full synthetic brand. Synthetic motor oils flow better at low temps then regular motor oils.
Greetings, just joined the forum. I bought the Dart Rallye back in September. Recently since the temperature dropped below 45 degrees (live in Queens, NY), she won't start on the first go. The colder it is, the more it cranks. Remote start or key, same issue. First start in the morning, crank and no turn over. Give it a second, engine will start on the second go around. I made my appointment to go back to the dealership and have the mechanic look at it. Hoping this is something quick. Will post when I have more info.
My girlfriend just told me our new Rallye wouldn't start this morning with the remote. She tried the key fob and took three times before it would start. It was only 27 degrees this morning. We are taking ot to the dealership monday or tuesday. Hopefully it logged a code. Between this and the led lighting around the dash cluster going out, this car is upsetting us both. Also thought I should let you guys know, the oil has been changed using full synthetic just a couple days ago, so that aint it.
I think I may have found the solution. I have been using the E85 gas and with that the car would not start in the cold. Remote start or key start, the engine would crank and crank. Now that I have gassed up twice with regular 87 and the E85 is out of the car, I have been starting no problem. Temps dropped to single digits and hasnt been a problem since.

Side note. The Dart has full synthetic off the bat, I am under the impression you cannot switch to regular oil as it could damage your engine. That is info from a friend, somewhat reliable, but he isnt a mechanic.
No Problem found

I have had my Dart since Sept. On the first very cold day in michigan i had this same problem, I just dismissed it. After the second time it happened I took it back in. They found no codes, nothing. They thought that the problem was that my key fob may not have been paired properly and when I used it, whether remote or actual, it was going into theft mode. They repaired the fob's, and since then it has gotten much colder and there have been no problems, going on two months now...I am anxious to hear what the rest of you are told...
I have a different problem it starts when it cold out but when I let go of the
Throttle it stalls out. It happens when it's below -5c 23f and only when the
Engine is cold, once the engine warms up its fine.
My sister just bought a brand new dodge dart and it is having problems starting too...has been in the shop 4 times already adn they cant find anything wrong, but everytime she takes it home it wont start

Check the lemon law in your state. See how many times a vehicle has to be taken to the dealer and they can not resolve the issue.
Ok, glad it wasn't just me. I had it happen one morning, it wasn't that cold, it was in the garage too, so maybe 30° F? I sat and waiting a few minutes and it finally cranked. I have a push button start and I hadn't used it in a few days, maybe 3 or 4. It hasn't happened again, but, it's good to know that I am not the only one.

we have had the exact same problem. Only difference is that it happens to us in the upper 20's. It doesnt get as cold here in VA, but the SAME problem happens. It has been taken to the dealer and they just say that they cant do anything if it doesnt do it for them. No speculation or anything. So we left the car there and will see if it will do it for them this morning....
sorry to be off topic guess i have to read up on the car more, But i saw a post in this thread with someone using e85, These cars are flex fuel compliant.? sorry I just decided one day to get a dart for a daily driver instead of my 426 magnum it was a spur of the moment decision.
